For festival workers
Edinburgh Fringe jobs that include a place to stay
Crew, front of house, and bar work where the employer provides accommodation. Plus August-only rentals and university halls.
The pairing
Roles where the employer provides a bunk, room, or partner-rate hostel.
Worker-friendly listings
Whole properties with two or more bedrooms tend to work well for shared festival lets — performers, crew, or two friends working the same run.
Example listing Two-bed flat in classic Marchmont tenement
Bright top-floor flat off Marchmont Crescent, 15 minutes through The Meadows to Pleasance.
Example listing Leith Shore waterfront apartment
Quiet waterside flat in Leith, 25 minutes by tram or bus to the city centre.
University halls bookable for the summer
Cheapest reliable option for solo workers. Edinburgh’s universities let out student halls during the summer break.
What to ask before you accept
Five questions worth asking.
Pre-acceptance checklist
- Is the room dedicated, shared, or hot-bunked between shifts?
- How far is it from the venue you’ll be working at?
- Is the property licensed under the City of Edinburgh STL scheme? Every employer should be able to answer this in writing.
- Are there washing facilities, a kitchen, and somewhere to keep food?
- Who is the deposit held by and how is it released?
